Processing of 3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl Methacrylate (TMSPM) Functionalized Barium Titanate/Photopolymer Composites: Functionalization and Process Parameter Investigation

To improve the performance of lead-free piezoelectric composites, functionalization filler particles has been suggested as a successful strategy in several recent reports. The details process, however, are not clear, nor is its influence on dielectric properties composites. This study reports systematic investigation process parameters barium titanate nanoparticles (BTONP) with 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (TMSPM) used linker to an acrylate-based matrix polymer. Functionalization temperature, time, agent ratio, solvent, and catalyst degree were measured by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), elemental analysis, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Elevated temperature average time led highest form TMSPM monolayer particle surface. Three solvents, without catalysts, investigated two types functionalized BTONP selected for composite manufacturing. this end, manufacture 10 vol.% BTONP/photopolymer UV light-curable suspensions. After solidification suspensions exposure light, microstructure resulting composites investigated. It was seen that improves dispersion particles, increases suspension viscosity, decreases curing depth properties.
